Gitton Père & Fils, Sancerre “Les Belles Dames” 2023

Starting with a small plot of less than a hectare in 1945, Marcel & Huguette Gitton discovered and pioneered single-site, terroir-focused Sancerre. The exclusively estate grown and bottled wines have been sold in over 30 countries for more than 40 years. Pascal, son to Marcel Gitton, his wife Denise, and daughter Chanel, carry on the tradition today. 100% Sauvignon Blanc from flint (silex) soils, this wine is aged around 10 months in French oak barrels (some neutral), with regular bâtonnage. It bursts with tropical citrus, pear skin, kiwi, and lime, layered over crushed rock minerality. The palate is full-bodied yet crisp, with racy acidity, a flinty core, and a long, complex finish. Fresh, intense, and evocative of classic high-end Sancerre.
